Artist notes:
I almost missed the opportunity to capture this shot as I was so focused on watching the beautiful sunset. I had set up my camera and tripod maybe an hour before the sunset and I was killing time waiting for the right moment. I knew the colors were going to be great and as the sun sank lower I was taken back by the colors that were starting to show. At the last minute I remembered why I was there and snapped this one shot. Lucky for me, I was still able to capture the beauty of the evening. The stark contrast in colors between the dark foreboding lava rocks and the bright green naupaka plants set a nice foreground for a gorgeous sunset.
